All change for 0870 numbers
Charges and payments for 0870 numbers are changing in August, although details are not finalised. It's likely revenue sharing will be removed and replaced by an inbound call charge. If you use your 0870 number to generate revenue, you may need to change to a new number....
....From the 1st August 2009 OFCOM is implementing changes to the way 0870 (non-geographic) numbers are charged.
Exact costings are yet to be announced, but many 0870 numbers are likely to lose their revenue share and have it replaced with a small inbound call charge. This could mean an increase to your telephone costs.
If revenue income is the main reason you use an 0870 number then you may need to change to a new 0871 or 0844 number.
We recommend you keep your existing 0870 number in use but train your customers to use a new 0871 number.
