Private schools 'must embrace smartphones'
Private schools have been urged to adopt smartphone and tablet technology in the classroom, rather than banning the devices.
The Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS), which represents over 600 schools offering independent education in the UK and overseas, believes schools are at risk of falling behind if they fail to move with the times.
IAPS Chief Executive David Hanson even goes as far as to claim there will be no IT suites in schools in the near future, urging schools to stop investing in them.
He said: "There is no hiding from this new wave of technology - you have to get on board with it and fast.
"We should not look at smartphones and iPads as an obstacle to overcome in the classroom, but rather view them as another tool to teach."
He added intelligent teachers should be able to harness smart devices as a way to engage children and enhance subjects.
